Consultation

For the past few years I have been working as an art psychotherapist in therapeutic residential children’s homes (between the ages of 4 and 18).
Not only have I been working with children and young people, but I have also been offering individual and group consultation to the teams around the child (Therapeutic Parents, Care Staff, Life Story Practitioners, Teachers, and Teaching Assistants).
I work with attachment disorders, complex developmental trauma, autism and many other diagnosis. I am informed by the latest interpersonal neurobiology and neuroscience as well as research and studies within the attachment and human development. and child emotional and psychological development.
Although I have good understanding of these diagnosis, conditions and theories, I am above all interested in the individual. It is the therapeutic relationship, in my view, that offers greater opportunity to heal.

I offer consultation and reflective practice forums to parents/carers and professionals working with children and young people with complex histories and backgrounds or going through difficult times.
Understanding the impact of trauma, abuse and neglect on children and young people (on their social, emotional, and psychological development) can help support the child or young person in achieving his/her full potential.
